A Fresh Start for Funzo
Speaking to media platforms, Funzo Co-Founder Faheem Sadiq said the team behind Origency has begun working on Funzo’s return following the launch of Qunjee.
He described the reopening as an opportunity to build on the idea that inspired Funzo in the first place โ making African cuisine more accessible to people in Pakistan while offering something distinctive for gatherings and events.
What’s on the New Menu?
East African dishes are central to the new menu. Customers can look forward to:
- Kuku Paka โ a chicken dish in a spiced coconut sauce
- Makai Paka โ a comforting combination of corn and coconut flavours
- Ugali โ a staple traditionally served alongside savoury dishes
- Zanzibar Biryani โ known for its fragrant spices
- Mandazi โ a popular East African sweet snack, now part of the dessert menu
With these additions, Funzo aims to give customers more than a familiar catering menu with a different name. Its African dishes bring a range of flavours and food traditions that many people in Karachi have yet to experience.
More Than Just a Catering Menu
The team hopes these dishes will appeal both to customers curious to try something new and to hosts looking for a memorable menu for their guests โ whether local Pakistanis or people visiting from abroad.
Expanding Beyond African Cuisine
Funzo is also expanding beyond African cuisine. Its upcoming catering offering will include more international options, giving customers a broader choice for private gatherings, celebrations and other events.
Looking Back, Moving Forward
The original Funzo launch in 2020 lasted only three months, but the idea stayed with its founders. Its return brings that concept back with a larger offering and a clearer emphasis on catering.
As preparations continue, Funzo says it is seeing interest from people eager to try its East African menu and the experience the additions have brought to catering options.
Funzo’s reopening date and ordering details will be announced soon.
Stay tuned โ the flavours of Africa are coming back to Karachi.
